Unlisted: Sawubona

A most beautiful and mystical greeting from the Zulu peoplett of South Africa.

It means ‘I see you’ but not in the sense of just seeing. It means ‘i SEE YOU!’ Your true essence, your divinity. I see you deeply and your presence is so compelling before me that i must acknowledge it. So you see, ti’s not simply an absnet-minded hello. It is a deep recognition of the presence of whoever you are greeting.

The response is a simple (and not so simple) Ngikhona meaning ‘i am here.’
